since everyone else is telling their stories Here goes :o)

I have 4 kids. 3 were unmedicated labours. With 2 and 3 I had

waterbirths. No. 3 was a particularly lovely birth. I can't bear to

be " nailed down " when in labour. I'd challenge anyone to try and get

me onto a bed!!!! Actually, the last midwife did try, but she was

starting to annoy me, so I just refused and gave birth on all fours

on the floor. I think the key to a trouble free labour and birth is

to stay upright and active. Afterall, sitting or lying on your back

impedes baby's progress and make things more difficult. I used a

rose and frankincense massage oil with no.3 and orange blossom

hydrolat sprayed into the air with no.4. The hydrolat was especially

helpful, as no.4 was a bit difficult - a very starty stoppy labour

and I started to get a bit disheartened - the orange blossom lifted

me and gave me the strength to go on.

No 3 was particularly lovely because the midwife was very hands off

and encouraged me to listen to my body rather than keep examining me

to see how dilated I was. She didn't have to do a thing other than

watch my little girl being born.

I had all my babies in hospital. I think that here in the UK we are

a little more pro natural birth than the States, so I was quite

confident of getting the birth I wanted. I didn't fancy a homebirth

because of my other children making demands on me both during and

after labour and birth.
