Guest guest
me again - I made some HP soap the other day and when I unmolded and cut it, most of them just fell apart. Not dry-dry crumbles, but it seems like the soap won't stick together properly. The few bars that did hold themselves together have crackes in them. Anyone have any idea why this happened? I did rebatch the crumbles and added some goatmilk and that seemed to wokr out fine - so far ;-P Fragrant Blessings, Ylva
Guest guest
Hi You Again :-D Hmmmm, sounds like your soap may have been a bit lye heavy? That is usually the cracking and crumbly culprit. Is it possible that you forgot to add an oil or maybe too little of one of the oils you added? When you rebatched the soap that goat's milk may have added that extra bit of fat it needed ... That's all I can think of .. *Smile* Chris (list mom) Celebrating The Colors of Autumn - ON SALE NOW Virgin Red Palm Oil & 2 Kinds Of Brown Muscovado Sugar <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/> http://www.alittleolfactory.com ruby_mama2001 [ruby_mama2001] me again - I made some HP soap the other day and when I unmolded and cut it, most of them just fell apart. Guest guest
That could also happen if you glopped into the mold too cool.... I've had what you describe happen to the one bar that almost held together happen when I glopped too cool.... almost like the bar was poured cp into two layers and didn't stick... What type of HP were you doing? If you were CPHP and your crock is too hot, then perhaps there was the outside of the soap in the pot that cooked farther (aka was drier) and when you stirred it together that caused the texture problem. I have a crock pot that does that to me :-(((( HTH Shelley - > Hmmmm, sounds like your soap may have been a bit lye heavy? That is > usually the cracking and crumbly culprit.
