Guest guest
>>>> I would like to have more information regarding smudging, how to make my own smudge sticks and a resource for smudge sticks until I've had a goodly amount of time working with them to feel confident in creating my own.>>> Hi Dale, This is just *my* opinion, but I really prefer to do smudging with the charcoal tablets and loose White Sage. Some folks add in all kinds of stuff ranging from Cedarwood, to pieces of Copal to rose petals! I've just not had good luck with smudge sticks......one I tried lit up nicely, but couldn't get much smoke out of it, so laid it on a heat safe surface. We thought it was out....HA! It had kept smoldering, but ONLY in the middle of the stick! I ended up having to cut off nearly half of it to get it to go out So now I stick to my own blends (Made a yummy one for Mabon last weekend!) You can add different herbs and EO's, just make sure they are ground up well so that they will burn well on the charcoal. >>>And one more: Has anyone here ever done any drumming? I think that is what it is called....folks together drumming on various instruments in their own way...>> LOL That is what we do! Well, that's not true, we do know some African and Middle Eastern rhythms....and we all try to play them at the same time Drumming is good for the soul I tell ya! Just be careful buying drums off of Ebay or a site that your not familiar with. You can spend big bucks and still not get a good drum. The other question is, how humid is it in your neck of the woods? Since your mostly dealing with goatskin heads, the humidity (here in OK at least) will always mush the heads up to the point that they are not able to be played. This is why hubby & I got synthetic heads......mine is a Zarb and his is a Djembe. You can play IN the rain with those suckers and it will still sound good Go to a music store in your area and see if they have any that you can play before you buy It is great fun, I promise!
