Hi Everyone,

A friend of mine is looking for this plant oil, they did not know the

English name. This plant is made into an oil and used in the hair. It has

a light sweet scent...he could not describe the type of scent. I got the

impression it was sweet flower like. The leaves are elongated with saw

tooth edges. I looked on the internet using the India plant name and did

not come up with anything.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks. :)Paula

Dear Paula,

Have your friend go to an Indian or Pakistani food store and ask

them to help identify the oil or product in which the oil is used. They

should be able to tell you a name (hopefully, the Latin name) and you can

either buy some of the oil there or go and look up the Latin name. Better

yet, call Nemat International in Hayward, Ca. (not an advertisment) and ask

their chemist to tell you the American/English name of the oil. Nemat is a

150 year old plus Indian Co. that deals in fragrance and eos. They are very

nice people and would probably be happy to help you. Good luck and then

please share what you have found out with us.

Paula,

Is it possible that it could be Kewda (Pandanus odoratissimus).

The leaf patterns sound very similiar. It is a very floral scent.

Here is a link to Christoper's site members.aol.com/parijata/kewda.html

Hope this helps!

Sandi

Thank you, Kathleen, Rhavada, and Sandi for the good leads.

I didn't have any pictures, he just drew the leaf picture. Will see what

I can find and share. The spellings of Kewda and Keveda look very

simular...he very likely could have misspelled it.

Off and running.......:)Paula
