Guest guest
Please help. For me this hits home regarding why I promote homebirth. At the same time it also conjures up memories of my time at Cornell for my splenectomy. Dirty place that was and it was a teaching hospital. As my parents get older I worry more and more about something happening some day that will send them to a hospital. Not to mention the odds of something happening to my kids...geez loving people sure makes you feel vulnerable about protecting them, doesn't it? Has anyone ever been in the hospital and brought some eo's with them to put in the room to keep infection at bay? Dale - Grassroots Network Message 409041 Stop Hospital Infections Camapaign Dear Friends, Among the many good reasons for seeking an out-of-hospital birth, one reason is to avoid infection. It turns out that hospital infections are a growing, but hidden problem. In fact, in most states you cannot even find out how your local hospital stands regarding infections. The organization Consumer Union is working to do something about this problem. You can read about their Stop Hospital Infections campaign at: <http://www.consumersunion.org/campaigns/stophospitalinfections/about.ht ml> http://www.consumersunion.org/campaigns/stophospitalinfections/about.htm l Thank you to Steve Cochran for forwarding the message below from Consumers Union. Sincerely, Suaan Hodges " gatekeeper " From Consumers Union: Every year 90,000 people die from infections they acquire in the hospital; and every year two million others suffer needlessly from hospital-acquired infections; and every year we pay $5 billion more on our health care bills due to these infections. But you have no way of knowing whether your local hospital is doing a good job preventing these deadly infections. It is time for this dirty health care secret to come out in the sunshine. Four states (Illinois, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Florida) have laws that will give the public hospital infection rates and a California law is waiting for the governor's signature right now. We think every state should have such a law and we need your help to put this issue on the radar of every state legislator in the country. Please act TODAY. Go to <http://www.stophospitalinfections.org/> www.StopHospitalInfections.org to urge your legislators to make hospital-acquired infection rates available in your state. Once you've sent your email message, please do one more thing to help -- spread the word to at least five of your friends and family. Let them know that they can help. Access to better information about hospital quality can improve hospital safety for everyone. It's easy, just forward this email message to them. Thanks so much for your help. Sincerely, Lisa McGiffert Consumers Union 1300 Guadalupe, Suite 100 Austin, Texas 78701 ================================================================= SHARE WITH OTHERS IN YOUR AREA! Guest guest
When I broke my hip and had to spend 5 weeks in a nursing home, Marge from naturesgift.com send me a care packet that included 'Germbeater'. It was in a blue 8oz bottle and I used it liberally around my bed, every time a nurse came in or doctor. Don't remember what was in it or if Marge sells it commercially , but I sure was glad to have had it. C-M
