Guest guest
I have a little emergency here ! A few days ago I made a batch of soap, and *forgot* about it after I poured it into the molds. Much going on around here, and it just slipped my mind. I usually find I can unmold 24-48 hours after I pour, then let soap cure after that. Well, I guess I waited too long, because I can NOT get it out of the mold. I used two plastic tray molds that had lines indented for cutting the final bars. Each mold is 8 bars. I guess my recipe was about 50 oz, or so. The first mold, I bent, dipped in hot water, pushed, pulled, tugged, pounded, cut around edges, then finally cut the slab in half, thinking I could slip a spatula under to unearth it. It's just basically coming apart, what a mess. This mold is shot, for sure, and 1/2 the soap in it. What should I do with the other mold? Should I just let it continue to cure in the mold, and hope it loosens up as the water evaporates? I hate to have to destroy the bars to get the soap out. Only thing left to do if it comes to that, is rebatch, and I don't want to rebatch this batch if at all possible. It was kind of a special soap that stands on its own. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Hi Christy! Stick it in the freezer for a little while...maybe 20 minutes or so....it should come out after that. Don't feel bad...I'm sure I'm not alone when I say " been there, done that! " :-D HTH! Guest guest
Hi Christy, Put into the deep freeze for a couple of hours - it will make the soap contract slightly and then you should be able to pop it right out mary Well, Naturally http://www.wellnaturally.com At 10:52 AM 9/27/2004, you wrote: >I have a little emergency here ! > >A few days ago I made a batch of soap, and *forgot* about it after I poured >it into the molds. Guest guest
Will it fit into your freezer? I find that freezing and then letting it sit out for a bit to condensate makes it really easy to get soap out of plastic molds Good luck! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com > > Christy Greenway [fufuno1] > <very snipped> > I have a little emergency here ! > A few days ago I made a batch of soap > I can NOT get it out of the mold. > I used two plastic tray molds > The first mold, I bent, dipped in hot water, pushed, pulled, tugged, > pounded, cut around edges, then finally cut the slab in half, > Christy
