Guest guest
Would appreciate advice on some acupuncture approaches for this case. A patient has balance issues -- often feels " heavy " on one side of the body (alternating sides) due to severing of the right vestibular ( " balance " ) nerve. The surgeon severed it purposely (during surgery to remove a neuroma as she had severe vertigo (also had Meniere's). I've been treating her for various problems (neck pain, stopped up ears); now we're working on weight. Yesterday, she felt heavy on her right side, so in addition to her treatment points to reduce phlegm and damp, I reduced LI4 on the left side only, thinking to reduce the 'healthy' side. Well, she wasn't heavy on the right after the treatment -- she felt heavy on the left! So I all I succeeded in doing was unbalancing her again. Should I stick to bilateral only, or should I have reduced the heavy side only, or what? Thanks!
