Guest guest
Hi John, Sometimes the publication date of a text is different from the exact date in which it was actually written. Perhaps a student or grandstudent of Li Gao's published the book after he died. My sources say that the book was written sometime in the Jin (金) Dynasty and published around 1276 (Yuan Dynasty). The name of the book refers to the idea that the formulas contained within are of precious value. Hope this helps,  Mei Li, L.Ac., M.S.T.O.M. Guest guest
John, The term " orchid chamber " is an abbreviation of the metaphor borrowed from another text titled ç´ é—®çµå…°ç§˜å…¸è®º. The metaphor is " chamber storing the divine orchid " (è—çµå…°ä¹‹å®¤) and, when used in the title " Secrets of the Orchid Chamber " , refers to a treasurehouse of precious formulas.  Mei Li, L.Ac., M.S.T.O.M.
