Hi. A friend has a goldfish that is floating sideways, we tried peas, anarchis,

massage, epsom salts. also bloodworms and antibiotics but it still seems to have

a air bubble, maybe that's all it has.

The goldfish was brought home from a country fair 8 yrs ago, looks fine but,

recently, seems to be suffering because of this floating problem.

I wanted, after all these measures, to use a syringe to extract the air, they

have a double air bladder, I've done the research, but still, not confident, not

confident with goldfish anatomy. The critter lets me hold it, feed it. Seems

like it could go on for a long time like this, but I hate to see it suffer.

Any suggestions?

Well in happy 'coincidence', stuck to my kitchen cupboard - here in Brisbane

Australia - we have a picture of a goldfish named Dick, afflicted with the same

problem.

I titled his picture BE KIND TO FISH ... being a Piscean and all :)

Dick lives/ lived in a tank in the Schenectady 'Sky Port Diner' and made world

news once kind patrons rigged up a device to enable him to float upright.
