Hi all:

I had a chance to meet Dr. Sung in person last week and got a chance to look

through two chapters of his translation of the Jin Gui Yao Lue.

I am no expert obviously, but the book was very clear and concise, and all

formulas had traditional characters (too often missing from english language

texts), pinyin and latin name. Overall I found the flow and explication to be

excellent. Good colour scheme too.

It's a definite purchase for me, and I find it superior in terms of its

clinical applicability to the Jing Gui by New World Press.

I heard that Craig Mitchell is also translating the Jin Gui?

Does anyone know how these two translations will differ?

Are there case studies in either translation?

It's not Craig who is doing it, it's Sabine Wilms and Nigel

Wiseman. . .they've done an outstanding job, and the terminological

issues are well handled. .

Dr Sung's book is a textbook, not a translation of the complete Jin Gui Yao Lue.

Since its based on the Chengdu University textbook, it contains the essential

passages only, but with analyses and case studies.

I'd want to have both books.

Sorry everyone, what I meant to say above was that the passages are arranged and

discussed in a different order from the numbering in the original classic, just

as in the national textbook.

As far as terminology and translation, PMPH has their own term set that was

compiled from a number of sources; all of the key terms are defined in the text

notes.

Hugo, thanks for commenting on the style, it was also our intention to make it

somewhat easy on the eyes..(*:

If they are different in their scope, I'll get both.

What's a preacher without the bible? and commentaries?
