Dear Emmanuel, just a pair of questions:

1- your dried extracts are made with decoction from raw or dried herbs/drugs

2- If from dried drugs, are them sold in Europe? Where can I found a web

URL?

Many thanks.

My best regards,

_____

Is than incorrect?

Hi K,

Yes, normally the finished product (formula or single herb) is spray-dried

and bottled ... not compounded as single her extracts. It came to my

attention in about 1993 or 1994 when comparing the herbs of many companies

that some of the formula products on the market had as many differently

colored granules as there were herbs in the formula. When I brought that to

the attention of my company president and general manager, they observed

that also the dissolving of the various granules were individually

different. They concluded that such products were compounded from single

herb extracts. They figured that it was a quick way in America of

maintaining one's " in-stock " formula line. Apparently some companies would

take singles, compound them, and then rebottle them in formula bottles. Min

Tong never considered doing this as it was the view of the president that

such compounding did not represent classical CM. We always spoke about

formulas in their complexity ... hundr eds or thousands of interacting

molecules ... some molecules in solution allowing for release of other

molecules from other herbs in the decoction. Basic biochemistry stuff that

we think about. It was a chance for me as a biochemist to speak with other

biochemists who thought in terms of CM. One wonders if certain formula

ingredients are not there for the human physiology but rather are there in

solution for the correct " pull " on some other herb to release into solution.

Even back when I was posting to CHA in the early 2000s I recall that we had

this discussion. I haven't made any such comparisons in recent years, so I

don't know what companies still compound singles into formulas. I haven't

noticed this practice in recent years. Back the early 2000s I recall hearing

the debate on CHA about practitioners doing this on their own in their own

clinics. Since I'm not on CHA any more, perhaps you can let me know how that

debate goes. Thanks.

Respectfully and gratefully,

Dear Gabriele,

Dried drugs? You're joking right? The U.S. FDA and the counter part in the EU

would not all a non-pharmaceutical company nor a non-MD to engage in such

business. I'm registered with the U.S. FDA, USDA-APHIS and Homeland Security

just to import dried Chinese herbs.

I left Min Tong Herbs in Dec., 1994. My current company uses the former Ming

Xiang Factory in Lanzhou , Gansu ... currently named Taibo Factory of Gansu

Meheco. It was historically the Beijing certified export factory, and

internationally GMP certified. I number of American companies do business with

them. Many other factories, larger than Taibo, can export these days. All of

our formula extracts are from dried herbs. I'm not in Europe nor do I

understand marketing in Europe. Min Tong is distributed in Europe through a

Belgium company. KPC is distributed in Europe a well. Look to your European

distributors for answers to your questions.

I'm in San Francisco representing mainly raw dried Chinese herb material supply

to manufacturers in the U.S. and also to a lesser extent supplying raw herbs and

finished formulas (not classical - rather, modern research, only a few) to

distributors serving Chinese medical clinics. I have the dubious privilege of

being directed by my beloved company president Dr. Liang to speak on her behalf

to anyone who comes through the door. Considering the actual marketplace that I

serve, I offer my condolences to all who blunder in off the street and in to our

warehouse. Normally the door is locked. (^; ing. People like Dr. Nam Singh

who grew up in his grandfather's Chinese medical clinic seem to find themselves

at home here.

Good luck with finding drugs in your herb extracts in Europe. Thanks for

asking.

Gratefully,
