Dear Yehuda -

I hope this note finds you well.

It makes me very happy to see the SAMRA DAOM program rolling in such a

quality fashion. It was your input in part that caused me to implement

a design that could accommodate the needs of Hebrew Sabbath. I am

thrilled that they sustained that concept. I visited there a couple of

months ago while attending the USC Innovations in Medical Education

Conference, and the Spine Center was very impressive.

Warmly,

Will

Dear colleagues,

I was absolutely remiss in neglecting to express my deepest thanks and

admiration, to Will.  It was, indeed, due to his intervention that Samra

formulated their DAOM in a different format than other programs.  Back around

2005 I attended an open house for a different DAOM program that Will, at the

time, was the program director, expressing my profound desire to take my

knowledge and clinical skills to a higher level.  For those of you not familiar,

the format for virtually all of the DAOM programs is  once a month,  4-day

weekend didactic and clinical sessions.  The problem for me is that I am an

observer of the Jewish Sabbath, which begins Friday at sunset and ends

approximately 25 hours later.  As such, I would miss one and a half days, which

would be untenable.  I asked Will if it would be possible to develop an

alternative program which could accommodate my observance, at his

school.   He said that he would enter my concerns into

the ongoing  dialogue with the administration of his school, concerning the

structure of their DAOM, and let me know of any ongoing developments.   Though I

didn't really think much would come of it,  that conversation was the

impetus that prompted Will to include the novel format of  a one day a week,

weekly DAOM program,(which would also be Sabbath-friendly), as an alternative to

the standard monthly program, when he was approached by Samra to help them

design their new DAOM.  There have been quite a few bumps along the way, but,

thank G-d, a program which works for me was implemented this past January.

It never would have happened without you, Will.  Thanks again, and much success

in Texas!  BTW, will you be coming back to California to give seminars on pulse

diagnosis any time soon, and hopefully within the Samra structure?

With deepest respect and gratitude

Dear Yehuda,

Blush. My intention was to thank you for generating this possibility. I just

viewed your concerns as important and recommended to committee that they

consider it a representative of real needs. It speaks to the power of your

voice.

The Mishna (avos:6:6) tells us that there are 48 ways in which wisdom is

acquired.  One of them is for one to give the attribution of a learned thought

or discourse, in other words, give credit where credit is due.  So thank you!

Seriously, though, is there any chance of you teaching pulses at  Samra for the

DAOM

program?
