Guest guest
My house is being invaded by small ants! While I am usually ushering creatures out of the house, this is getting a little much. Now these ants are sharing meals with me. We have had a lot of rain at once in my area (the Washington, D.C. area) which is also humid - as L'Enfant and the early residents of Washington DC found out.  Any natural remedy to send them away would be greatly appreciated. Should people especially not take Nosodes before or after vaccinations. There might be those out there who receive nosode therapy and then get vaccinated, without the supervision of a trained homeopath. You can get nosodes on the internet. Guest guest
I mix water, rubbing alcohol and cinnamon essential oil together and spray the areas they frequent/ places they are coming in from. When I lived in San Francisco, this worked amazingly well. They wouldn't get near the areas I sprayed for at least a month- most often they never came back. I live in Oregon now, and these ants don't seem to be deterred by cinnamon. I have heard other essential oils like rosemary might work... Good luck! Guest guest
I have used diatomacious earth quite successfully. You can buy this at a greenhouse or a place like Home Depot. You sprinkle it around the diameter of the room that is effected. Apparently the ants eat the particles and die from it. It is ground up volcano ash, completely natural and safe for humans and pets. good luck On Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 4:31 PM, Ariel Solomon, L.Ac. < ariel wrote: > > > I mix water, rubbing alcohol and cinnamon essential oil together and > spray the areas they frequent/ places they are coming in from. > > When I lived in San Francisco, this worked amazingly well. Guest guest
I did boric acid mixed with maple syrup. It took a little while, but voila, no ants. Instead of being a repellent, it a bait that that they take back to the nest. y.c.
Guest guest
Thanks for all the ideas. I tried the one below, sprinkling cinammon in it (as it would be a stretch to get a cinnamon essential oil here quickly). It seems to be working. I appreciate the rapid response as it was rapidly advancing.
