Guest guest
Stephen, I've seen great strides in my formula choosing since taking Dr. Versluys' classes... Now I have no problem prescribing a formula in 10 herbs or less and feeling very confident in its effectiveness. For instance, using Si ni san as a root formula has been much more effective for the Shao yang conformation than Xiao yao san in most cases that I've seen. Before, I thought that Xiao chai hu tang was the only formula used for the Shao yang conformation. Also, using Gui zhi tang modifications has created much more complex and effective treatment protocols for the common cold patients arriving into the clinic. Sometimes you can find the conformation pattern through the pulse, even before the patient is clued into the signs and symptoms... That's really interesting. Dr. Versluys is really a purist and that's what's needed to study Zhang Zhong Jing. Looking forward to the case studies weekend! Guest guest
Hi David The seminars will be held in Millbrae, California...kind of an obscure town but this is where the San Francisco International Airport is located... so, the location is very convenient for " out of towners " We have participants coming from north of Mendocino, from LA some come from the East coast and now we have a new record...one person is flying in from London to get more training with Dr. Versluys It's worth the trip - Stephen Woodley LAc - www.shanghanlunseminars.com -- http://www.fastmail.fm - And now for something completely different…
Guest guest
Hey Kokko No kidding The approach Dr. Versluys teaches is like the balance method for herbs! It's amazing how this approach moves so directly from presentation to effective treatment. I also have found that my formulas are getting smaller and much more focused. The lineage he teaches based on formula families and such clear diagnosis is not only fascinating, but helping me give better treatments Stephen Woodley LAc - www.shanghanlunseminars.com -- http://www.fastmail.fm - The professional email service

Each pulse image reflects a certain imbalance and therefore " asks " for a given treatment to rectify it. Each herb represents a certain message to give to the body to restore proper physiology. From this, pulse images directly call for specific herbs read the images...put together combinations The combinations are seen in a limited number of formulas which each treat given conditions Add the complaint(s) and you know the formula. The program helps us understand the SHL formulas and the conditions they treat How to match the pulse images (and abdominal images) to herbs in formulas how to modify Very simple...very quick and the results are extremely powerful Stephen Woodley LAc - www.shanghanlunseminars.com visit the website to learn more -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Send your email first class
Guest guest
I had the honor of taking a seminar with one of Arnaud's SHL teachers, Dr. Zeng Rongxiu, in SHL pulse last year. These physicians from the past had their own understanding and interpretation that may very slightly from the standard Song version. There is a famous SHL practitioner, in the mountains near where I live, he never attended school, and he never took the te kao exam, still many students, and doctors at my university study with this man. He apprenticed from an early age, and all his knowledge about pulse lore comes directly from the MaiJing, Zhugong, and Guilinguben SHL. His results are phenomenal, and he is widely sought after. This just goes to show that a deep understanding of these text's combined with clinical experience, and knowing how to integrate both, is what brings these classics to life. In the west most practitioners are clueless to the importance of combining classical textual information with clinical practice, in order to cultivate knowledge. Not to speak for Dr. Versluys, but from what I've read, he seems to be making people aware of this valuable connection. Gabe Fuentes

Guest guest
Simply, studying with someone who was practicing a purely classical, lineage-based system in the modern era was quite refreshing.
