Guest guest
Hi all, I'm wondering what the protocol is for cleaning glass cups after bleeding cupping? ..... wash soap, bleach.... autoclave. Any information about autoclave services? Thanks, K -- www.tcmreview.com The Four Reliances: Do not rely upon the individual, but rely upon the teaching. As far as teachings go, do not rely upon the words alone, but rely upon the meaning that underlies them. Regarding the meaning, do not rely upon the provisional meaning alone, but rely upon the definitive meaning. And regarding the definitive meaning, do not rely upon ordinary consciousness, but rely upon wisdom awareness.
Guest guest
10% bleach for 20 minutes should do it. Be careful with autoclave and glass. Guest guest
Attilio, Thanks. What is Milton solution? " The cup is then cleaned by sterilizing it in Milton solution whilst the blood is disposed of in a clinical waste container. It is not recommended to bleed more than once a month and not more than 100ml at any one time. Guest guest
I bleach the cups and boil them if glass, and bleach and let them sit for a month or two if plastic. If bamboo, single use, give them to patient, they know how to do it now. --- On Sat, 2/14/09, <johnkokko wrote: <johnkokko Re: Re: Wet cupping Chinese Medicine Saturday, February 14, 2009, 5:32 PM Attilio, Thanks. Guest guest
Chinese Medicine , <johnkokko wrote: > > Hi all, > > I'm wondering what the protocol is for cleaning glass cups after bleeding > cupping? > .... wash soap, bleach.... autoclave. Hey everyone I urge anyone reading along to get on line, and find public health guidelines and procedures relevant to 'universal precautions' and infection control. This is a FUNDAMENTAL, CRITICAL issue. It should be a core value in our day-to-day-practice. We don't expect our family doctors or surgeons to re-use instruments and equipment without effective, safe decontamination, do we? Our work is no less risky. Some basics it's imperative we all remember in the care of our patients, our staff, and ourselves: Avenues for disease transmission - patient to patient patient to practitioner practitioner to patient Without correct attention to contaminated glass cups, and any other devices we re-use, all 3 of these methods of transmission are likely. Any device contacting non-intact skin, is a high - critical risk, and must be STERILISED before re-use. It must be cleaned, with all blood and fluids removed, prior to sterilisation, or high-level [thermal] disinfection. There are specific protocols and procedures to follow, for the first cleaning and washing step of decontamination, prior to sterilsation. The sink and taps you use, the gloves, scrubbing brushes and cloths etc; all must be appropriate to the task, and used only for this task. Methods of sterilisation include- steam-under-pressure sterilisation [autoclaving] dry-heat sterilisation high-level [thermal] disinfection Again, there are protocols, and standards for the kind of equipment required. If our cups or guasha instruments cannot be sterilised, upon contact with non-intact skin, they will need to be destroyed. Please be mindful that non-intact skin is considered as critically risky, as contact with visible blood and body fluids. We are also advised to use a different set of cups for use on intact skin, and another set for use on non-intact skin, and to regularly inspect our re-usables for signs of wear and tear, and thus deterioration, of their surfaces. Micro-organisms will gather in cracks, rough surfaces, lips, rims etc. Margi
Guest guest
A dish washer is a mini-autoclave, with the heat and increased air pressure. Soak in 1-10 bleach solution and then try a mini dishwasher. - " mystir " <ykcul_ritsym <Chinese Medicine > Saturday, February 14, 2009 11:17 PM Re: Re: Wet cupping >I bleach the cups and boil them if glass, and bleach and let them sit for a >month or two if plastic.
