Guest guest
Hi all- I have been asked my advice on whether it is OK for a nursing mom of a 15 month-old to take a " Candida Cleanse " product which contains Pau d'Arco, Uva Ursi, and Barberry Root. I'm not familiar enough with these herbs enough to opine; are any of you? Her daughter nurses about 4 times/day. Thanks Fiamma Sita Aaron, L.Ac., C.A., Dipl. O.M. Guest guest
those are strong herbal diuretics that shouldn't be taken longterm, nursing or not. general advice for nursing women who take herbs is, to take the herbs right after nursing (on empty stomach )and wait at least 2 hours till next nursing,by then most of the constituents will have passed the liver.. i am not quite sure how this herbal combo will address her " candida " ..? if she is using it on advice of a healthcare provider, she should discuss it with him/her. if not, i would rather give her strong nutritional advice, like staying off sugar and simple carbs etc.. my 2 cents.
