Guest guest
I'm hoping someone can give a brief decription of the available electro- therapy systems out there and answer these questions: Is microcurrent the same as electro-therapy (like using a ITO 1130) Is TENS just microcurrent w/ pads instead of needles? The terminology from the different companies is confusing. Is there an article that covers the differences betweenthese therapies? What about PENS, this seems very popular among the acupuncture MD's. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, David
Guest guest
Check the website of Pantheon, they have some excellent articles, it's a bit more complicated. Guest guest
Dear David, TENs is 1000th of an amp and works through the gate theory with the results being very temporary. MENS (Micro-current) therapy uses 1,000,000ths of an amp which is the same as that produced by the mitochondria within the cell. This is the amperage of the cell membrane potential and MENs actually causes pain reduction through healing. MENs causes ATP production and cleavage within the cell to increase up to 400%, this is the magic of MENs and is the magic of Qi. Pantheon makes a good device and you can even use MENs with pads, but I only do that when treating the eyes. The best MENs equipment that I know of are the old Myomatic made by David Wing (the creator of TENs also), and Nebrinski's Electro-Acuscope. The Myomatic is no longer made (but I have a number of them) but you can pick up an acuscope for $7,000-$8,000. There are many other MENs type units and Dr. Darryn Starwynn makes a decent one, but I think the others are better. MENs is MENs but frequency is everything. Hope this helps, Sincerely, Don J.
