Guest guest
Hello all: I would appreciate any info/links on regulations for the practice of acupuncture in Germany, especially for a non-MD (if applicable). I understand all the visa / work regs, but am looking specifically for acupuncture licensure requirements, or if anyone has any experience moving there from abroad to practice. Thanks! -Ben Hawes, L.Ac.
Guest guest
Actually I am German and my understanding is that you needs a license as a " Heilpractiker " Those licenses are regulated by the different states (Bundesstaaten) and the requirements vary. I think it would be hard to set up a practice there; Germans have socialized medicine and are not used to paying anything out of pocket; and some MDs are running " community acupuncture " practices. I think if you are in the office of an MD, you can practice and some Chinese do, although they do not have their own licenses. Guest guest
Hi Ben, in basic it is what Angela was writing. There are two possibilities to work with acupuncture (or any other non spirit only healing method) on your own: a) you need a approbation as an MD (i do know nothing about the validity of a foreign MD status here) b) you need to be a Heilpraktiker The Heilpraktiker is an official examination you have to pass concerning theoretical and practical aspects of western medicine. The way you prepare for this are manifold, either on your own or like most do in a three years training. Nowadays the regulations are the same all over germany just the oral part of the exam is more or less rigid due to local concerns. In fact there is the other thing that you make friend with a german MD and get employed to work for him. Whilst some are doing this for years, others think that this is prohibited by laws. I am no specialist in this, maybe someone else knows more here. If you can read german: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heilpraktiker will lead you to the official regulations on this. Hope this helps, Torsten Torsten Ziegler, Heilpraktiker http://chin-med.de http://ziegi.de Angela Pfaffenberger, PH.D. schrieb: > > Actually I am German and my understanding is that you needs a license > as a " Heilpractiker " Those licenses are regulated by the different > states (Bundesstaaten) and the requirements vary.
