Guest guest
Hi all - I have a patient, late 50s, w/pain down the right side of her body, head to toes. This pain is not constant, but does come in waves that last a couple of days. Western med has done numerous tests and found nothing wrong. She takes very little medication, as she doesn't believe it's useful. Her pulses are deep and muffled, can sometimes be deep and strong/substantive. There is no real difference that I can feel between right and left pulses overall. Her tongue is generally dusky and dry. She has a history of heart arrhythmia. Her primary complaint is lack of energy that dates back a couple of years (at that point she had just ended about 5 years of caring for dying parents and business partner). Today when I checked her tongue it was slightly deviated to the right, which is new - and alarming. Any thoughts would be appreciated; I'm especially interested in treating pain that is only on one side.
Guest guest
Hi Karen, The description of your case makes me think that maybe there has been a minor stroke? I always tend to associate one sidedness with Liver / Wood element. Let us know how it evolves, Artemis - Karen Adams Chinese Medicine Wednesday, December 17, 2008 1:54 AM one sided symptoms ..... Guest guest
I would love to hear more from others on this. I have one sided pain myself. It is almost gone but still there is this hint that I can't get rid of. Plus I have had patients with it that I can only help so much. Guest guest
I had a teacher who said that we need to look at the laterality of pain from a time perspective. Pain and trauma on the left hand side tends to relate back to things in ones past, where as those to the right hand side relate more to fears or struggles about the future. I would love it if anyone has more TCM references to this. Thanks, Mark On Mon, Apr 26, 2010 at 7:15 PM, Petra Buchanan <petrabuchananwrote: > > > So what does left side pain mean? Guest guest
This patient seems to have a great deficiency! From taking care of dying parents and business were overloading with stress and depression. Her pulses are deep and strong ( interior problems ), dusky and dry tongue ( Jing, essence deficiency )........ To confirm her problems : Headaches and dizziness at times ? trouble sleeping / unsound sleep, shortness of breath, chest discomfort? ........ Blood pressure???? A half-side of the body feels pain ( must be a blood clot, thrombosis or an embolism ) is a signal of neurological disorders may lead into hemiplegia if not treat early............. Calcium, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus, manganese ( mineral deficiency ) with vitamin C.... Must be added in dietary. Arrhythmia can be a cardiovascular disease, in this case, skip beats ? Can be cured with CO Q10................ P6 can be add......... Must check to see if this patient is taking any medication, ask her doctor to take it off . DHEA is a supplement for her sleeping, memory, stress..... Acupuncture : Du4, K3, SP6 , Ren4 ( to tonify Kid Jing and essence )......... For Heart , arrhythmia ( P6 & SP6 + Co Q10 )..... Prevent hemiplegia , dizziness and headache : Scraping her back and neck ... Taking Apple Cider vinegar with honey or apple juice , 3x / day......... Depression and stress therapy is also a must...... Relax and take DHEA supplements GOOD LUCK ! --- On Tue, 4/27/10, Mark Milotay <mark wrote: Mark Milotay <mark Re: one sided symptoms Chinese Medicine Tuesday, April 27, 2010, 11:54 AM I had a teacher who said that we need to look at the laterality of pain from a time perspective.
