US Military tries 'battlefield' acupuncture to ease pain

this is an interesting use of auricular acupuncture anesthesia. i'm

guessing points similar to the dental anesthesia protocal were used. any

guesses as to the points being used here?

thanks hugo. its an interesting choice of points: the only points i

recognize are shen men & ST. i wasnt' able to find the others in either

shang hi (acu: a comp. txt: blue) or cmx (red: chin acu & moxi).

Hi Kath,

 

battlefield acupuncture works very well. I can testify this from my own

experience of 20 years of auriculo-acupuncture. The points chosen mostly are

gyrus cinguli (close to pituitary region)

thalamus (stitched from outside)

point zero

omega 2 and

shen men.

 

You start normally with gyrus cinguli on the side of the pain or - in case of

central pain locations - according to handedness, let the patient walk around

(!!!) and check whether or not the pain is changing. If there is no reaction

take the opposite gyrus cinguli and chose this ear as effective. Continue by

adding more needles in the sequence given above.

 

Almost every pain related to orthopedic problem respond very well. In chronic

disorders an access to the emotional sphere is necessary, though. E. g. using

EFT.
