Hi Michael, depends where in Canada you're talking about.

British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec are the only provinces with government

licensing requirements, and they're all quite distinct from each other. I'm

pretty sure youc an find web resources for each province.

Ontario doesn't yet have a government regulated college, although we are in the

process.

This is the BC College of TCM:

Hope that helps,

Hugo

I need to caution you about BC & the CTCMA. Their standards of

practice have dumbed down in BC to make it more

palatable to western medical professionals. More and more

practitioners in BC who came up through the more traditional training

and practice of TCM are looking for a way to opt out of being managed

by the CTCMA and still practicing.

Hi Mark: Yes, that is one of the major problems with licensing in general. How

does one license for the plethora of styles and schools in existence? How does

one justify said licensing to a government in thrall to a " scientific method " ?

I find this an interesting viewpoint. I have taken both the US and BC

exams and found the BC exam a lot more difficult, stronger on the

diagnosis on a TCM perspective and a lot less broad than the US exam.

The pass rate is also a lot lower. I think the standards are much

higher.
