I use the regular scale 1 mild 10 excruciating etc but Ihave several

questions for them to fill out.

It works for the VA documentation.

I'd love to know how others are doing it.

I like to define extreme to the patient. I often say if 10 was a car

running over your foot at one inch per second and 0 is no pain were is

your pain right now. If the patient still says 8 or 9 and walked into

the office i basically know i want really help them. Its important to

always redo the definition to have reliability.
