Guest guest
wondering what contacts we might have in chicago to arrange for an acupuncture treatment for an Obama family member. Tan style would give instant results for pain, but even a stress relief tx would be great publicity for the profession. Guest guest
Since Obama is a friend with Oprah, Oprah might be able to be the link to get acupuncture into the white house. There's probably a hundred practitioners who would want to be the one to get that type of publicity and status. It might be hard to find the right one. I think that there's somebody already there who has the " in " on the DC circuit. Most likely, allowing for it to happen naturally and organically would be better than trying to push it. My vote would be someone who has at least 20 years of experience and respect from other acupuncturists, has great bed-side manner and someone who can explain how acupuncture works to the public, so that Dr. Oz doesn't have to be the one to do it. It's kind of a gamble, because if you're the one picked, then you'll either be praised or criticized by your peers and the rest of the medical establishment. Chuang tzu said that he would rather wag his tail in the mud. K. Guest guest
acupuncture is already in the White House. My brother whom was in the Eisenhower section acroos from the West Wing told me they were using that on pilots for retinal degeneration vision problems...lets see back when I had to treat my brother for a hand injury with homeopathy about 3 years ago. We were talking about alternative medicine, my point being our troops certainly did not have the best care, that on the battle field, homeopathy would be better than western medicine. Also of course, TCM acupuncture, he let me know upon his return that they were using it already.Sincerely, Patricia Jordan DVM,CVA,CTCVM & Herbology : johnkokko: Wed, 12 Nov 2008 12:55:28 -0800Re: Re: Acupuncture for the Obama's Since Obama is a friend with Oprah,Oprah might be able to be the link to get acupuncture into the white house. There's probably a hundred practitioners who would want to be the one to getthat type of publicity and status. It might be hard to find the right one. Guest guest
This whole discussion feels very weird to me. If we were the pharmaceutical industry, this would be akin to discussing drugging the president, to persuade him to favor our industry. Ick! I think discussions with him and his staff is a far better idea. My 2 cents. Andrea Beth Traditional Oriental Medicine Happy Hours in the CALM Center 1770 E. Guest guest
Andrea, all, I agree that there is something not quite right here. And what about patient confidentiality? President or not, actual or prospective, I conider confidentiality as part of the profession's ethics. I am a " hard liner " when it comes to confidentiality.
