Does anyone have experience treating benign lipoma with acupuncture or

herbs?

A friend asked me if Chinese medicine could help. He only has one

small lump on his shoulder. Not visible, not painful, not noticeably

increasing in size. His MD told him that the only possibility that it

would spread is if they disturbed it by removing it.

My initial reaction is that it might be possible to reduce the size or

even get rid of the lump, but since it is not bothersome, it might not

be worth it for him to pay for the number of treatments it would take.

Any thoughts?

Carl,

Try surrounding the lipoma with needles and doing direct moxa in the center. My

niece has a lipoma that softened noticeably and diminished in size with a few

treatments. We haven't been able to keep up with the treatments, but I think

that doing this regularly could make a big difference. Does your friend have

any underlying medical condition, like diabetes, that might make him more prone

to lipomas?

In general this problem is difficult to cure with Chinese medicine. It takes a

minimum of 6 months.

But I have had success using with herbs (bulk) and acupuncture.

This is true, lipomas can shrink in size almost immediately after a treatment or

two, however it is my experience that they will return. One must have steady

treatments over time. Although this is my experience, have others had more

lasting results from just a few treatments?

Thanks for the replies.

So if the lump softens/shrinks with a treatment, then maybe he would

do well using a Tiger Warmer on the lump at home. What about adding

some kind of external herbal salve?

I'm pursuing these at-home treatments because I don't think he's

interested in paying for treatments for this small problem. But nice

to hear others experiences in any case.

By the way, my friend is over 60, but says he's healthy, though I

don't know him all that well. However, for a number of years he says

he was obese. He's just a bit pudgy now.
