Guest guest
It is important to train people to as how many HOURS their Acupuncturist/Oriental Medicine Practitioner has completed. A Chiropractor across the street from me has taken 3 years to finish the 300 hour course. She is telling people she is completing a three year program. She wanted me to help her practice her points and give her tips in practicing. I respectfully declined. Blessings, Sunny
Guest guest
Sunny, Good point. Unfortunately, people assume that we only go through a trade school, 2 yrs. Even 3 years is bogus. I don't know anyone in CA who finished an accredited program in less that 3 1/2 years. I took 5 years, but wasn't always full time. So, I think saying 4 years and 3000 + hours is fair. If we added those 600 + hours as Deke Kendall suggested (that's the average hours in Chinese schools (3600 hours) or when we go to the entry level doctorate (4200 + hours), then the language can change again. Guest guest
In Florida one of the bureaucrats in charge of the Dept of Education told us years ago that with 60 credit hours to get into an acupuncture school plus the 3000 hours in the AP school....that equates already to a PhD level education. And here we are for many years primary care providers diagnosing and treating illness and injury......so why is the AP/OM degree not really recognized within the real REGIONALLY ACCREDITED SYSTEM? Take your Acupuncture Masters and TRY to use it to get into a Miami University of Nova SE.....they will laugh you out the door. In a message dated 9/30/2008 10:51:40 A.M.
