Guest guest
Hello, I had two questions. 1. I was wondering what organ system in TCM is related to fatty tissue. I always assumed bone-kidney, muscle-spleen, tendon/sinew-liver, skin-lung. But I miss the fatty tissue. 2. Is there a recommendation for a book on TCM Dermatology. I enjoyed Jane Lyttleton's Infertility (gyneacology) book and was wondering if there was something similar for Derm. I have a particular interest because I have a rare condition that involves massive inflammation of fatty tissue under the skin that presents as hard lesions that break open. Now wherever I have had these lesions there is fat atrophy and my body itself is very 'fat deficient'. Would love to work on preventing the whole cycle and on restoring my fatty tissue layer. Guest guest
Hi Brian, In Chinese medical theory, fat is phlegm. And in most cases, phlegm as repletion results from damp accumulation and Spleen vacuity. Therefore the key would be to strengthen the spleen and add aromatic herbs to invigorate the Middle Jiao. There are two fine books on dermatology that I use: " Dermatology in Traditional " By Xu which is a monumental 760 page book and Manual of Dermatology in by Shen Wu and Wang, which is smaller, but also quite helpful. Hope you're feeling better!
