Guest guest
Ed, It is my understanding that the enzymatic activity and antioxidant properties of produce diminish quite rapidly once harvested. That's why fruits and vegetables, hopefully spoil when exposed to the air. That is, unless they are genetically modified (no thank you!) or contain preservatives (also no thank you!). That's also why, BTW, most Gou Qi Zi is treated with sulfur dioxide--to keep it fresh. But the product that I am asking for clarification on contains no preservatives --- On Wed, 8/6/08, Happy Herbalist <eddy wrote: Happy Herbalist <eddy Re: New file uploaded to Chinese Medicine Chinese Medicine Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 6:35 PM K. very nice point. But wouldn't reconstituted juice from dried berries be very similar to the typical extract with the only difference the ratio (concentration) . Ed Kasper, LAc Santa Cruz, CA www.HappyHerbalist. com ............. .. These are interesting studies, which validate traditional science. But, what I'm interested in is the study that compares fresh squeezed gou qi zi fruit vs reconstituted juice from dried berries. These studies are a marketing tool for Gochi, because most of us have no access to fresh squeezed gou zi berries. In other words, we have to buy their product to get those results from the studies. For practitioners like you and me, we need studies based on the resources we have on hand, so that we can give these to our patients... studies about dried gou qi zi and extracts. Warm regards, K.
