LECTINS - a little known troublemaker

 

There are a series of articles about lectins here for you to read. This is the 1st one.I do not necessarily agree with all the comments of every author.For example this author suggests increasing your intestinal flora - your gut flora, to enable you to handle lectins better.I say: why handle them at all?They do not benefit us and can be the cause of other ugly and painful ailments such as Rheumatoid Arthritis. But I leave you to gain what you can from each article.While most of the world seems to be touting the benefits of whole grains these days, a few people are insisting that grains are not as healthy as we think.One of the reasons grains may be a problem in human nutrition is because they contain lectins, a class of molecules called glycoproteins (molecules that contain a protein and a sugar).While dietary lectins are known in the scientific and nutritional communities, most lay people and even many medical professionals don’t know about them.http://just-me-in-t-health.blogspot.com/2010/04/troublemakers-1-lectins.html
