Codex Alimentarius, goes into effect Dec. 31st 2009

Note: I wonder how they could pull this one out of their hat on Dec. 31st.I have been in touch with my local health food store, the person in charge of the supplements told me he hasn't received any warning from his suppliers, so he kind of doubts this Codex will start being implemented [in the US] on the 31st.Then I thought it'll apply first to Europe and from there to any supplements the US import or export. I went to the P.O., they have a very long list of things that cannot be sent internationally [pharma drugs of any kind, in particular], but nothing [yet] about supplements.France doesn't seem to be on red alert, even though they are the country with the most homeopathic remedies and most of the remedies sold in the US come from France [boiron Labs], which makes France the ideal target for Codex. I asked a French friend to go to the pharmacy where she usually buys her homeo remedies and ask them about Dec. 31st. The pharmacist told her the same thing the local health food store said, "We'd have heard from our suppliers if this were going to happen on Dec. 31st, we have heard nothing so far."Meanwhile, drugs are going up rapidly in France, and the SS reimbursement is going way down. My friend tells me that "comfort drugs" aren't reimbursed at all anymore. And the list of those includes drugs for low blood pressure [although *high* blood pressure isn't among these "comfort drugs" thus still reimbursed], for hemorrhoids, blood circulation, edemas, varicose veins, etc.Codex is *definitely* something we have to fight, the way we did mandatory H1N1 vaccination. But we need better and more current info than what we are getting so far.The way I understood this press release from the National Health Foundation on Nov. 6, 09, they managed to delay the implementation of Codex through a "technicality" [unfortunately, that's all we get so far]. Finally, the Chairman, perhaps in exasperation, suggested that the Committee not advance the document to its next step because there was no consensus! This “compromise” was supported by NHF but opposed by others until, with it still hanging in the balance, the Indian delegation firmly stated its support for NHF’s position and against it advancing. India’s timing was impeccable. The name of the game for Codex Alimentarius is to shift all remedies into the prescription category so they can be controlled exclusively by the medical monopoly and its bosses, the major pharmaceutical firms. Predictably, this scenario has been denied by both the Canadian Health Food Association and the Health Protection Branch of Canada (HPB). The Codex Alimentarius proposals already exist as law in Norway and Germany where the entire health food industry has literally been taken over by the drug companies. In these countries, vitamin C above 200 mg is illegal as is vitamin E above 45 IU, vitamin B1 over 2.4 mg and so on. Shering-Plough, the Norway pharmaceutical giant, now controls an Echinacea tincture, which is being sold there as an over the counter drug at grossly inflated prices. The same is true of ginkgo and many other herbs, and only one government controlled pharmacy has the right to import supplements as medicines which they can sell to health food stores, convenience stores or pharmacies." It is now a criminal offence in parts of Europe to sell herbs as foods. An agreement called EEC6565 equates selling herbs as foods to selling other illegal drugs. The story circulating that there will be no

supplements on the shelves on Dec 31st is not

true. If you will go to the web site of the

National Health Federation you will always get

the facts. They have a full time lobbyist in

Congress, Scott Tips. He is the one that

testifies at the Codex meetings, and even exposed

aspartame. If you you get their

excellent magazines and it keeps you up-to-date

on this issue and many others.
