It is with great interest I read your reply to Mr. Ray Stoner (his original correspondence and yours copied immediately below for your convenience).

and, according to Dr. Niman who is tracking the outbreaks, "two shoes have now dropped":

Many had asked why the WHO was dragging its feet on Ukraine and I had said they had two major problems. One was "mutation" and the other was Tamiflu resistance and both were happening when deaths were climbing and vaccine was is short supply. Therefore, they would try to keep those two shoes from dropping for as long as possible. Now both shoes have dropped. The D225G in Ukraine was disclosed, followed by Norway, so the "mutation" shoe has dropped, and now the clsuters of Tamiflu resistance in the UK and NC have come out, so the other shoe has dropped. Most of the world is as lost as ever. Media hasn't yet figured out that the same "mutation" is in Ukraine and Norway (and worldwide), and they also haven't figured out that the cat was out of the bag on Tamiflu resistance. In both cases, agencies are still trying to spin "spontaneous mutation" and lack of spread, but those dogs won't hunt. A vaccine panic is next, followed

Mr. Stoner was NOT singling out one group of citizens over another; in fact, his concerns are for ALL (as are mine).

 

The sound of silence from the mainstream press on this crucial issue is deafening. It is no wonder that the Department of Health or Attorney General have not issued a travel warning.

 

I am sure the Ukrainians in your community as well as any other citizen would greatly appreciate hearing a warning of some sort from their local government since it is readily apparent the state and federal government have not yet come to bat, and especially in light of the fact that this is now not just a Ukrainian problem. It is spreading. And fast. You would do well to remember that, Mr. Garofalo, when it hits the United States. Step up to the plate, Mr. Garofalo, before it is too late.

I will have someone from the City post an “Informational†type piece on our City Website, regarding safety precautions while traveling to other countries in general. I can assure you that I will not support an “alert†that singles out one group of citizens over another. If this was an International Problem Specific to the Ukraine I am certain that the DOH or Attorney General would have issued a “warningâ€

 

I am very proud of our Ukranian Community and the fact that we have the largest concentration of Ukranians in the United States living in and around North Port, and I am not about to make them feel like 2nd class citizens.

In view of the unknown disease ravaging the Ukraine--and in view of the fact this crisis has been brought to all of your attention--and in view of all the conflicting data being presented by any and all regarding the H1N1 vaccine-- and

 

with the large Ukrainian community residing here --and after just speaking with Sam George who said to his knowledge no one has been in contact with the local Ukrainian community discouraging travel to their homeland for fear of communicable disease transmission --- ???????

 

The question needs to be asked--by me--of you--our elected officials--and press--WHY NOT--or is it your intent to bring further adverse publicity to the city with no port as is evidenced in today's front page article of the Herald Tribune by turning my family -- home -- and community-- into an incubation model from which whatever this disease is-- can contaminate the rest of North America --brought here unknowingly by people returning from the Ukraine--having been summoned there to help afflicted family members and who return here as carriers--Now I want some answers--and I want them------------------------------TODAY---!!!!!!!!!!!!!
