Guest guest
So, we eat a certain way telling our genes to store the energy. Excessiveness of this behavior leads to the metabolic syndrome. And what happens? A patient will see his doctor who will prescribe medications to tell the enzymes/genes of the body to do the opposite effect of what our bad diet is dictating. But now the patient gets to enjoy the side effects of these "wonderful drugs" - especially the statins (muscle weakness, increased liver enzymes, etc). It gets better. The positive properties of statins are not their lipid lowering effects but their anti-inflammatory effects. What happens? Statin dosages are increased and lipids are overly suppressed. Sounds bad to me taking into the fact that the: brain is 60% fat nerve tissue is made of fat cholesterol is needed to make Vitamin D, bile, testosterone, estrogen, and cortisol. So, the patient with metabolic syndrome has a chocolate doughnut in one hand and pills in the other. Yes, modern medicine is amazing. There is a pill for everything. http://nephropal.blogspot.com/2009/10/health-philosophical-standpoint.html FOR COMPLETE ARTICLE which is worth reading
