ANyone here familiar with www.healthcare.cato.org ????

They not only detail the problems with the proposed Health Care plan, they also provide free market alternatives. Obama never mentions that there's a third option. It's either his way or the status quo.

Would appreciate opinions on this. Just who are they per se?

I Googled the bill and read the actual text. It does not say anything about pushing suicide, but it does require people who are at risk of terminal illness or being incapacitated be counseled on issues such as living wills, etc. by their doctors.... now come on, how many doctors are going to take the time to sit down with very sick patients and 'do the counselling'??? or will they just hand them pages to read - or hand their families pages to read????

The bill itself is worded far differently than the fear mongering that is being spread about.

Please note I have no political affiliations in the USA...... I have enuff trouble trying to make sense out of what our own Federal Government is threatening to do with Health Care.

Not heard of Cato before.

However, I too have read the bill and I doubt if it is

fearmongering. It is the fine print that gets people sucked in time and

time again.

Regarding the counselling for older people: the plans have been

floated to appoint special counselling teams who visits people at home,

with a once per 5 yr visit once over 65.

The list below is not put together by me but it tells the story.

Interpretation is everything.

If even Half of points below are correct.... this transcends WAY beyond

healthcare.

We're talking

National ID card (page 58)

immediate access to every American citizen's bank accounts via electronic

funds transfers (page 59)

property owned by the doctors in the United States to be determined by

the government (page 317)

American citizens ordered to give the United States government power over

their living wills (page 425)

The United States government given a new power to determine who and how

Hi Bea

I already had a link for the CATO website but I am curious if anyone knows if they have political affliliations per se, and what they are.

I read so much on this group and on the web, but a little digging will usually show which side of the political or financial fence they are coming from.

I have no political affiliations per se for USA issues. I do however like to read actual documents and not peoples opinions of what they imagine the document might be saying. (that is a tad like doing a meta analysis, and just picking out the bits you want to use etc) I do say again that fearmongering is at play here currently and would like to know if anyone has information as to WHO CATO are? I have never come across them before. In my humble estimation (sadly) it is usually a case of follow the dollar.
