Two Wolves - A Cherokee Parable

Native Wisdom

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life..."A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves."One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego."The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. "This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"The old chief simply replied, "The one you feed."

Greetings To All, i come in peace...

Normally, i do not comment on all the messages that i am posting, until someone replied or have responded to them, but in this case, i must.

Most people do not understand, what is the meaning of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, b'coz this is a book written by Robert Louis Stevenson and is a book recommended, by our school for Literature class.

In short, Dr. Jekyll is the Good wolf and Mr. Hyde is the Bad wolf, and when i found this Native Cherokee Wisdom, i was reinforced in the knowledge of the characteristics and personality of being Human, and i simply adore this wisdom as it teaches us to Feed only the Good, to make us stronger, to be more friendly, compassionate, kind, curteous, polite, understanding, sympathy, emphathy, lovingkindness and so forth, to everyone we meet, and for ourselves too, either in Salvation or for our own good Karma.

Furthermore, this story teaches us not to be too critical of ourselves, as we are born this way, but in order to change the world or the people surrounding us, we have to start with ourselves, and the change must start with us.

Herewith is the url/website that i found for you to peruse, but my message to all of u, is not to let Mr. Hyde, takeover or overcome u:-

P/S - Here, i must emphasize on something... not everybody is totally bad, not even in criminals, as i have learnt that criminals came from broken homes, and in one movie, about a condemned criminal awaiting the electric chair, even he has the love and compassion for a rat he reared, and which has become a dear friend to him and he revived him, after an evil prison officer killed the rat.

Does anyone or anybody remember the title of this movie, as i recommend everyone and everybody to watch it, as it is very touching and moving, to me?

Thanks to All,

Dearest Inga,

Yes, u are rite, it is called The Green Mile, and yes, i agree with u that the criminal i mentioned, was innocent of the crime, when i read the sypnosis...i forgot, b'coz it was ages ago, when i last watched that movie.

Last but not least, i wish to thank u very much for taking the time, trouble and effort in giving me the url/website.

Thanking u for your Help and LovingKindNess,

AsianWoman

P/S - i would like to share with u all here at Groups, what i replied to another member:-

U R a Darling, Glyn and thanks for taking the time, trouble and effort in giving me all the details, including the url.

U r rite, there are some parts which are unpleasant, esp at the end, when Tom Hanks, after being given the gift of living forever, (by that criminal), found it to be a curse, when he outlived everyone, including all of his beloved wives...i wanted to include that in in my original posting, but since i am posting motivational & inspirational articles, i decided not to...but thanks for your Honesty.

The problem was that, i forgot all about the title and the story, was b'coz i caught it in the middle of it, when i was unable to sleep and decided to watch the midnite or was it a late movie...so, it was a real pity, i missed the beginning...according to the review, it was 188 minutes.

But OverAll, the most touching of all, was when all the Prison Officers except for the evil one, came together and formed a team to help someone out, nearly sacrificing their jobs, if they were to be found out.

This movie, also changed my impression about Prison Officers, when all that i have seen on the TV, was that they were tough, mean and cruel.

Thanks for the warning, Glyn, but for me, i always see the good in people, as well as in other things...and discard the bad...and that is how i learnt to, "Let Go".

Normally, once the movie or TV series is about Prison, i would shut it down, for i abhor violence, but luckily for this movie, i didn't and it taught me a valuable Lesson about Life.

Thanks for your Help and LovingKindNess, Glyn,

It is based on a book by Steven King, "The Green Mile", although be warned it can be a little unpleasant in parts and it is rated as a UK 18 certificate.

Although, i know this does not really belong here, but what i feel that by knowing ourselves or what we are made of, does matter to our mental health.

For instance, i have seen people (in a documentary) punishing themselves, with chains beating across their backs until they bled, b'coz of various reasons, known to themselves only, but in my own humble opinion, it is b'coz of their guilty conscience.

Also, according to many psychologists or psychiatrists, OCD (?) or Obssesive Compulsive Behaviour of many types, but i will mention one only, ie, the ones who are constantly washing their hands, considers themselves to be unclean.

Ok, so what is my point in relating these 2 instances?

Well, again according to all the researches and surveys that i have read in the past, it is all in the Mind, and if one is not healthy in the mind, it will build up toxins in one's body system and will eventually cause cancers of many kinds, including if one does not exorcize (sorry wrong spelling) bottled up feelings.

i like to apologize to all of u here, for bringing up an off topic subject in posting what i had replied as per above to another member, but what i wanted to, was to pass on the message on how to "Let Go", b'coz if not, it will mess up, one's mind.

Thank U very much, Ms. Jane Ross, for your Patience and KindNess, in allowing my postings to go through,
