Dear R.A.L.,

Documentary on Industrial Agriculture Is " Must-see Viewing for Everyone Who

Eats "

On Friday, June 12, " Food, Inc. " the new documentary exposé of the safety

hazards and corporate control of our current food system will open in New York

City, Los Angeles and San Francisco, followed by the nationwide release on June

19th. The Center for Food Safety (CFS) provided the filmmakers with both

expertise and critical information, and CFS founder and Executive Director

Andrew Kimbrell urged all concerned with the food they eat to see the film.

" Food, Inc. " is must-see viewing for everyone who eats, " said the Center's

Kimbrell. " I urge American consumers to make it a point to see this important

and revealing film, which will, I hope, help to permanently change the way we

all eat. "

In " Food, Inc. " , filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food

industry, exposing unsafe and inhumane corporate practices that have been hidden

from the American consumer. The film further shows how the government's

regulatory agencies tasked with protecting our food and farmers – USDA and FDA –

have instead acted complicitly with the corporations, causing the current food

safety crisis.

Kimbrell and CFS have published groundbreaking books on our current

unsustainable food production system, including Fatal Harvest; the Tragedy of

Industrial Agriculture. " The message should be clear, " Kimbrell said, " There is

not one American consumer who wants food made using industrial agricultural

methods. These practices benefit a handful of companies who profit greatly at

the expense of our farmers' way of life and the public's health. "

As " Food, Inc. " demonstrates the corporate control of our food has given us new

strain of E. coli—the harmful bacteria that cause illness for an estimated

73,000 Americans annually; widespread obesity, particularly among children; and

an epidemic level of diabetes and heart disease among adults. The film also

describes the abusive persecutions and prosecution of farmers around the country

by Monsanto as it attempts to push its genetically engineered crops.

Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation),

Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater's

Manifesto) along with forward-thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield's

Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms' Joel Salatin, " Food, Inc. " reveals

surprising, and often shocking, truths about the safety of what we eat, the

often horrifying way it is produced, and the corporate powers that actually

control our food supply.

After the film's June 12 premiere, the documentary will open nationwide starting

June 19. For more information on " Food, Inc. " , visit

We hope you'll get out and see this great film!
