Guest guest
an excerpt! http://www.telegraph.co.uk:80/health/healthadvice/5330891/Doctors-Diary-Parliament-should-let-doctors-get-on-with-the-job.html Finally, a few postscripts on statins, with a reader from West Sussex confirming the impression that doctors are either unaware or in denial over the side effects. When, in six weeks, he went from being reasonably active to a "doddering old man", his family doctor informed him that the reports of statin-induced muscle problems were only "anecdotal'. The rheumatologist to whom he was finally referred similarly "stated categorically" that statins were not responsible. It would thus be helpful for those afflicted to report side effects to the regulatory authorities (http://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk) Meanwhile David Hopkirk from Leeds has the perfect response to those tut-tutting about his refusal to take the magic pills. "Thank you for your concern, but I am off to do something that carries a far greater risk than not taking statins… getting in my car and driving home!"
