Dear Betty,

Thank you for taking my call today and discussing your efforts to

remove aspartame from the marketplace. I realize these efforts take

time and money, so I have enclosed a donation toward the financial end.

Several years ago I did an Internet search on the 'health effects of

diet coke', and that is how I found that it was the aspartame causing

my health problems. That information saved my life and pointed me

down the long road of recovering my health. Here is a brief summary

of my story with aspartame.

I drank (mostly) diet cokes for about 15 years ending in

2004. During that time I estimate I consumed about 15,000 diet

sodas. Over the years I experienced progressively worse symptoms

that included headaches and migraine type headaches, brain fog,

memory loss, dizziness, depression, fatigue, mental and emotional

stress and finally sudden onset hypogonadism. The onset of

hypogonadism is most often association with chemotherapy or other

types of toxic exposure. I have no doubt mine was from the aspartame

toxicity. For several months I was only able to function out of bed

for about 3 hours a day until the doctors finally diagnosed the low

testosterone levels. I was also put on anti-depressants because the

doctors didn't know what else to do. It was about a year later that

I found out about the aspartame and stopped poisoning myself. Today,

I still deal with the effects of acute chemical sensitivity and seem

to lose many days of productivity because of that.

I have done several detoxification programs over the last several

years and have found some things that seem to work. I did the

Hubbard sauna detox course (28 straight days of sauna & vitamins)

which allowed me to get off of the anti-depressants and feel much

better. I still sauna on a regular basis after exposure to chemicals

- lately that was my reaction to some house paint. I have tried Dr.

Blaylock's list of supplements but then ended up going with some

supplements recommended by a local naturopathic physicians after some

extensive testing. I did find some glycine and gluthamine

supplements to be very helpful and previously I did some liver detox

supplements that also helped.

For me the most incipient thing about aspartame was the slow

progression of the symptoms over time from repeated exposure - I

thought the symptoms had more to do with stress and didn't realize

how bad hey were since they got worse a little at a time. I lost

hundreds of days of productivity and have since spent thousands of

dollars on medical expenses. During the time I was experiencing the

aspartame effects I operated vehicles and flew small aircraft in a

condition that was just downright dangerous. I feel very fortunate

that I did not injure or kill myself or others as a result. However,

I have no doubt that thousands of accidents have happened across the

country as a result of aspartame toxicity.

Betty, you have my sincerest gratitude for your incredible commitment

to educate people about the dangers of aspartame and to remove it

from the marketplace.

Sincerely,

Alan Elpel

Please note Alan's comments about chemical hypersensitivity. This is

why so many aspartame victims who get off of it and accidently get

some react so seriously, some going into anaphylactic shock. That's

why it is so important not to use any processed foods, especially

ones that say artificial and natural flavors or even Vanillin which

many times has aspartame mixed with it. Dr. Russell Blaylock,

neurosurgeon, www.russellblaylockmd.com, said in a lecture,

" Understand the reactions to aspartame are not allergic but toxic

like arsenic and cyanide. " Aspartame is not an additive. An

additive by law must be inert or non-reactive. It's only masquerading

as an additive. In reality its a genetically engineered, addictive

excitoneurotoxic carcinogenic drug that interacts with other drugs

because of damage to the mitochondria.

Also, note his comments about flying a plane. Here is Dr. Blaylock's

Pilot Alert on the dangers of using aspartame with regard to

Aviation: http://www.mpwhi.com/pilot_aspartame_alert.htm There are

also comments about aspartame and aviation in Dr. Roberts medical

text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic,

www.sunsentpress.com Be sure to see the movie, Sweet Misery: A

Poisoned World, www.soundandfury.tv Our representative for Aviation

Safety, Fred Fox, (Mission Possible Aviation) speaks out in the

sequel. One pilot who worked for American Airlines died in flight

drinking a Diet Coke. You may have heard recently about another

pilot dying in flight and a passenger had to land the plane. This is

one we have to investigate. FAA knows all about it but says because

of FDA approval they can't do anything about it. We must get it

banned. If you want it out of your state or country please contact

me or Stephen Fox (stephen). The anti-aspartame

bill and resolution are already written waiting for you to get it

sponsored by your senator or representative or by Parliament in other

countries.
