Dear Jan,Using their forced unionism privileges, UAW union bosses ran the American-owned car industry into the ground... and now they want you the American taxpayer, to bail them out. And President Obama seems ready, not only to bail out the Detroit union bosses, but to expand Big Labor's coercive power to record new levels. You see, instead of using Chrysler’s bankruptcy (and GM’s imminent bankruptcy) to remove the cancer of forced unionism, President Obama is poised to hand over what's left of the once great companies to the very union bosses responsible for their downfall. According to news reports, Obama Administration officials are attempting to strong-arm stakeholders into giving UAW union entities a majority stake in Chrysler, and nearly as large a stake in General Motors. Along with their allies in government, union bosses would have total control of these two iconic American companies. This is the exact opposite of what needs be done: Of course, forced unionism caused these problems and only ending forced unionism can solve them! That's why it's critical that you read the following message from National Right to Work Foundation President Mark Mix and, if you haven't already, sign our open letter to the President demanding that he stop propping up Detroit's forced unionism.Sincerely,Stefan GleasonMay 4, 2009Dear Jan,Your OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA may be the last chance we have to save our free enterprise system. It tells the President in no uncertain terms...... DON’T PUT THE TAXPAYERS ON THE HOOK FOR DECADES OF FORCED UNIIONISM; and... DON’T USE OUR TAX DOLLARS TO BAIL OUT THE BIG LABOR BOSSES OF THE UNITED AUTO WORKERS (UAW).I wish such a letter wasn’t necessary. But when UAW union boss Ron Gettelfinger went on network TV recently to blame us here at the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation (NRTWLDF) for the automakers’ collapse... ... it was MORE than just a new low in the long history of Big Labor’s forced unionism stranglehold over U.S. industry and workers –- MUCH MORE!It was also the opening salvo of a larger objective to hoodwink you, me, and our fellow taxpayers into paying billion of dollars in pensions and health care costs for the very same UAW whose prior demands led to the collapse of the American auto industry in the first place! That’s right!Yes, General Motors is financially crippled. And yes, Chrysler is on its last legs and Ford is on weak knees. But don’t think for a moment that the Big Labor Bosses and their ally in the White House see this as a disaster. To the contrary! They see this as an opportunity to -- in the name of "saving America’s auto industry" -- force you and me and our fellow taxpayers to line their pockets! That's the dirty secret the Obama Administration, the Big Labor Bosses, and the pro-Big Labor media won't tell you.Well your signed OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA lets the President and his Big Labor allies like Ron Gettelfinger know we will not be fooled or intimidated...... and we will not let UAW union bosses get their hands on billions of our hard-earned dollars without a fight! No, it won’t be easy.Because President Obama owes a huge debt to Big Labor Bosses like Ron Gettelfinger. After all, they spent more than a Billion Dollars in forced union dues helping to elect him.In fact, many doubt that Obama could have been elected WITHOUT the money and manpower at the disposal of the Big Labor Bosses. That’s why there was no way he was going to let the automakers’ financial collapse cut into the UAW bosses’ forced-dues revenue stream.Nor are Obama and his allies going to let the Big Three automakers’ problems in any way slow their scheme to force millions of new workers into the clutches of Big Labor. And frankly, all that stands in their way is you and the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. That’s why Gettelfinger attacked us by name on national TV...... and I’ll explain more in detail in a moment. But first, please, sign the OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA without delay.Your OPEN LETTER demands that President Obama cease and desist his blatant pandering to Big Labor Bosses like Ron Gettelfinger.More importantly, it says NO! to any scheme to bail out forced unionism – which is directly responsible for the automakers’ collapse!Bottom line? When Open Letters signed by hundreds of thousands of fired-up taxpayers begin pouring into the White House, the message will come across loud and clear.Because while Ron Gettelfinger and his fellow Big Labor Bosses can easily thumb their noses at public opinion... ... President Obama does so at his own peril. That’s why it’s vital you immediately sign your Open Letter in order to show President Obama the political "facts of life".Otherwise, our economy may well collapse as President Obama grants Union Bosses like Gettelfinger more power to impose forced unionism on millions of additional workers and job providers. Forced unionism that provides Big Labor vast clout and influence in Washington, purchased by the mandatory dues and fees of workers whether they like it or not.Forced unionism that gives union thugs the power to keep workers and employers in line with beatings, arson, and even murder. And forced unionism that has all but killed the competitive advantage that once made American industry unrivaled by any nation. But in the world of denial where UAW boss Ron Gettelfinger lives, the forced unionism stranglehold he enjoys has nothing to do with the downfall of GM, Chrysler, and Ford. Incredibly, Gettelfinger blames the Detroit debacle on efforts to defend workers from forced unionism abuse! The UAW boss made clear his target during a nationally televised press conference on December 12, 2008. Curling his lip at the TV cameras, Mr. Gettelfinger angrily lashed out saying, "We’re also up against the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation… we can’t find out who their contributors are."I don’t pretend that Mr. Gettelfinger would ever admit the strangling effect of his forced unionism privilege, with its nitpicking, productivity-killing workplace rules, on America’s auto industry. But for him to put the blame on us shows that desperate union chieftains will go to any lengths to assign responsibility anywhere except where it really belongs: Directly on themselves! What’s more, Mr. Gettelfinger’s words contained a veiled threat against the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. The UAW and 12 other international unions fought a 13-year legal battle with the goal of forcing us to reveal the names and addresses of our contributors.Union lawyers finally admitted their intention to send contributor names to local union bullies who wanted to make "discreet inquiries" about our contributors in their areas. But there is nothing "discreet" about the tactics of union thugs.Nothing about strong-armed coercion, assault, arson, bombings, and even murder is the least bit discreet. But that’s the way Big Labor responds when challenged by anyone who dares to give workers back the basic right to decide on their own whether to join a union or not!And that’s why the National Right to Work Foundation had no choice other than to fight back with every weapon in our legal arsenal. We eventually won this battle, but not before lower courts came very close to throwing the Foundation’s then-President, Reed Larson, in jail twice for denying court orders demanding release of the list.Mr. Gettelfinger’s angry words hinted that the National Right to Work Foundation had better stand down or we may soon be back in court fending off a new lawsuit from the same band of cut-throat lawyers.Well, I’ve already informed Mr. Gettelfinger... you will never get your hands on the list of National Right to Work Foundation contributors! If another multi-union lawsuit is the price we must pay for defending workers from forced unionism, so be it!The fact is -- they want to shut us up or shut us down because our program is a real threat to their plans for America. And believe me, we have already shown we can stand up to the heat of the new pro-Big Labor Obama regime in Washington.Case in point? President Obama has promised to sign off quickly on the Card Check Forced Unionism bill, Big Labor’s number one priority this year. The bill would rob workers of the ability to vote on unionization by secret ballot and force an estimated 1.5 million American workers into forced unionism –- each and every year! While this threat looms ever larger, Right To Work forces have stopped it cold so far this year. But, while "Card Check" remains Big Labor’s top priority, it is just one of a number of paybacks they expect from the Obama regime.Another top goal is to gut or outright repeal all 22 state Right to Work Laws which make union membership and union dues voluntary. Those laws are the only thing standing between workers and a government-granted privilege available to no other private organization... ... the power to deduct money from a worker’s paycheck to use for political activity, whether the worker supports those causes or not!Well, we are fighting them every step of the way.We are also working in the courts to extend that same freedom of choice to the 28 other states where workers do not enjoy the protection of Right to Work laws. Freedom from union coercion is the principle underlying more than 200 cases nationwide that Foundation attorneys are currently prosecuting on behalf of thousands of workers. And believe me, no one has a better track record on contesting union boss power –- and winning –- than the Foundation’s bulldog attorneys and staff. It was the National Right to Work Foundation that won a ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of CWA Union v. Beck, forbidding union kingpins from spending workers’ forced dues on politics and lobbying.Foundation attorneys continue to slam the unions with lawsuits to remind them that the Beck decision is the law of the land and they must follow it.And believe me, every time our attorneys take a union bigwig to court for extracting dues or ordering acts of violence against workers who refuse to toe the union line, it is a sharp reminder to Big Labor that it will be held accountable for this activity. But that said -- DESPITE this success -- we still face a relentless foe, flush with money confiscated from workers and emboldened by the most militant pro-forced unionism President and Congress in decades. What’s more -- BECAUSE of this success -- we are now public enemy number one to Big Labor Bosses like Ron Gettelfinger. They fear us because they know that Americans overwhelmingly oppose the imposition of forced unionism on unwilling workers. And they know President Obama is STILL a politician who has to respect this overwhelming majority against forced unionism. He can be forced to back down if faced with a storm of angry grassroots protest. And that’s where your OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA comes in. Wave after wave of Open Letters will get attention in the White House –- even if the new occupants don’t admit it publicly. But I hope you will do MORE than simply sign your OPEN LETTER.Because we also need you to add your voice to the only organization with the courtroom expertise, courage, and strength to challenge the twin evils of forced unionism and unbridled, coercive union power... ... and to make certain that workers can hold a job free from the scourge of these malignant forces.Without the painstaking work of National Right to Work Foundation attorneys and staff, there would be no one standing in the way of complete Big Labor control of the workplace.Your signed Open Letter is crucial -- but so is your tax-deductible donation of $25 or more.Because it costs a lot of money to keep attorneys on call to help workers fight back, conduct legal research, hold depositions, pay court costs, and hire security to guard workers threatened by union goons. But unlike Big Labor, the National Right to Work Foundation doesn’t have (or want) the power to make anyone pay dues.Instead, we must depend on patriotic Americans like you. Many of your fellow citizens have given donations of $25, $50, $100, or even greater amounts of $250, $500, $1,000, or more. The larger your donation, the larger the impact you will have on blunting the enormous power and influence labor barons enjoy under the reign of Obama, Pelosi, Solis, and Reid. But please, try to donate at least $25 today. Our record of success is out there for all to see –- believe me, many union bosses are still smarting from the defeats they have suffered over the years at our hands.I humbly suggest that our record is worth your financial sacrifice. I will put your tax-deductible donation of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, or more to work immediately in the fight for workers’ rights to be free from union coercion in the workplace. Thank you for any help that you can provide.Sincerely, Mark MixPresidentP.S. UAW Boss Ron Gettelfinger openly attacked us here at the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation for good reason: We stand in the way of enslaving millions of American workers into forced unionism. Which is why, along with your signed OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA, we need your financial support to continue over 200 other court cases now underway in defense of workers’ rights not to pay forced union dues and not to join a union. And please make a tax-deductible donation of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, or more to help us guarantee these freedoms for every American worker. The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization providing free legal aid to employees whose human or civil rights have been violated by compulsory unionism abuses.
