I have dogs for my home protection - Rottweilers and German Shepherds. My husband has a gun - he is a police reservist, as we have to protect our neighborhoods against criminals. We have very few police. Unfortunately there are only 75 police reservists in a community of about 500,000. Everyone is walled in, razor wire on top of walls, or electric fencing. Every one has electric gates. Satellite tracking systems on our vehicles. Everyone has alarms, and to armed response companies. We have been fighting a war against illegal guns - AK47s which have come thru the borders from wars in Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe and current war in Congo and DRC. The reason why they want to control our gun ownership and I suppose in other countries -because its the criminals who steal the "legal" guns and ammo to commit more crimes. Our crime is particularly violent - they commonly rape the women - and use hot irons and plastic bags to torture the victims. They especially love to attack white farmers - who are more relaxed less security conscious in the countryside, probably to get more guns and cash.
