Mowing the grass I hope the picture will go through for you - of this Australian Digger in Afghanistan with his tiny "plot" of grass in front of his tent. It's heartwarming! Here is a soldier stationed in Afghanistan; posted to a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (Australian soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can smell the grass, and feel it grow beneath his feet. When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass in Australian soil - to bring them good luck. If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted. These kids are being sacrificed for reasons much other than what they and we are being told.... Be much better if was back in Oz experiencing the grass first hand... If everyone said NO I wont Fight there wouldn't be any war, but it does take a heap of courage to do that, I had a bf once, he was in the Australian Army, when Vietnam ended he wept because he couldn't go back and fight a bit more. How sad that people love war, and killing and violence. I wondered if we are being prepared for this more and more when I turned on the TV last evening for the first time for ages, all dark violent stuff, nothing beautiful, nothing peaceful. How can people contain all this terrible stuff! Thank God for the choices we have here on the net, where if we wish we can find beauty and peaceful things to enjoy! Obsessive behaviour is not always so easy to deal with! I know guns are a way of life for many nationalities, and for most farming communities, but it is not something I feel comfortable with. Other than fair grounds as a child with corks for ammo - I don't think I have ever seen or held a gun - it has just been out of my sphere of experience. I will possibly fail to survive. Going back 10-15 years, I was all in favor of people being disarmed and the gun control laws. Since then, I have learned lots more, and I have done a 180 degree switch on that position. Only this morning, whilst walking out in the middle of nowhere, miles away from my car as well, with my dogs, I saw 3 head lights coming towards me, in a cloud of dust/sand and by the sounds I knew they were trail bikes, or some sort of light motor cycle. I tell you what, it was one of those moments I wished I had something on me to defend myself. If their intentions would not have been the nicest, I would not have stood a chance, nor would my dogs. It doesn't have to do with nationalities, it has to do with being allowed to defend self. To a large extent it is what you have grown up with. You may see it differently, this is how I see it. If everyone said NO I wont Fight there wouldn't be any war, but it does take a heap of courage to do that, I had a bf once, he was in the Australian Army, when Vietnam ended he wept because he couldn't go back and fight a bit more. How sad that people love war, and killing and violence. I wondered if we are being prepared for this more and more when I turned on the TV last evening for the first time for ages, all dark violent stuff, nothing beautiful, nothing peaceful. How can people contain all this terrible stuff! Thank God for the choices we have here on the net, where if we wish we can find beauty and peaceful things to enjoy! However, I wonder why they are so much against and upset about the gun control laws in England which is playing now. I mean, if there weren't guns, why would that gun control be deemed necessary and why are people protesting because they are against it? Going back 10-15 years, I was all in favor of people being disarmed and the gun control laws. Since then, I have learned lots more, and I have done a 180 degree switch on that position. Only this morning, whilst walking out in the middle of nowhere, miles away from my car as well, with my dogs, I saw 3 head lights coming towards me, in a cloud of dust/sand and by the sounds I knew they were trail bikes, or some sort of light motor cycle. I tell you what, it was one of those moments I wished I had something on me to defend myself. If their intentions would not have been the nicest, I would not have stood a chance, nor would my dogs. It doesn't have to do with nationalities, it has to do with being allowed to defend self.
