>Cordless Stick Vacuums Recalled by Electrolux Home Care Products Due to

Bursting Batteries

>WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation

with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following

consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately

unless otherwise instructed.

>

>Name of product: Ergorapido, Pronto and Precision Vacuums

>

>Units: About 320,000

>

>Distributor: Electrolux Home Care Products Inc., of Bloomington, Ill.

>

>Hazard: The vacuum's battery can expand and burst, posing a risk of injury to

the user and bystanders.

>

>Incidents/Injuries: Electrolux has received 34 reports of incidents in the U.S.

involving damage to the vacuum and surrounding property. There have been two

reports of minor injuries, including swollen hands and irritation to the eyes

from contact with battery powder.

>

>Description: This recall involves 2-in-1 cordless stick vacuums with a

detachable hand vacuum and free-standing charger. Units involved in the recall

have 9.6-volts printed on a serial plate on the underside of the handheld unit,

and the following serial numbers: 074000001 through 085100001 and 74000001

through 85100001.

>

>EL1000A - Pronto

>EL1000B - Pronto

>EL1000BX - Pronto

>EL1000BZ - Pronto

>PE1000B - Precision

>EL1005A - Ergorapido

>Remedy: Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled vacuums

and contact Electrolux for a free replacement of the handheld portion which

contains the batteries.

option. The FRU part number 89P8571 with date code 200810 is located on the back

of the adaptor.

>Sold by: Lenovo's Web sites, telephone and direct sales, and Lenovo authorized

distributors nationwide from October 2008 through January 2009, as an accessory

for about $30.

>

>Manufactured in: China

>Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled AC Adaptor and contact Lenovo

to receive a free replacement part.

>Units: About 500

>Manufacturer: Outerwears Inc., of Schoolcraft, Mich.

>Hazard: The Funnel Pre-Filters can create a flash when they are removed from

the fuel tank posing a fire hazard.

>

>Incidents/Injuries: Outerwears received three reports of flashing when the

funnel is removed from the fuel tank following a fueling event. No injuries have

been reported.

>

>Description: These filters are used to fuel-up off-road and racing vehicles.

The recall involves Outerwears Funnel Pre-Filters, or fuel funnel pre-filters,

with the model numbers 20-2465-03, 20-2466-03, 20-2467-03, and 20-2474-03. The

red fabric mesh filters were available in two sizes, small and large, and in two

different shapes to accommodate various sizes of fueling funnels. The name of

the manufacturer, Outerwears, is the only marking on the product.

>Sold at: Various off-road and racing retailers nationwide from June 2008

through February 2009 for about $25.

>

>Manufactured in: United States

>

>Remedy: Consumers should stop using the funnel pre-filters and contact

Outerwears, Inc. to arrange for a full refund.

>
