Guest guest
The popular cholesterol-lowering drugs known as statins work by preventing that enzyme from working. But the drugs also have the paradoxical effect of building up the enzyme's levels even as they block its function. That may be, DeBose-Boyd said, why cholesterol levels don't drop as much as doctors would like. He said his research is aimed at figuring out how to prevent buildup of the enzyme. The goal is to make statins more effective or to come up with new classes of drugs to lower cholesterol levels. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/032609dnmetutswaward.395aa79.html Please clean up your emails if you are going to forward it onto anyone else.
