Guest guest
You'll notice that this "OCD" "affects one in 50 adults in the United States," nowhere in this article do we get inkling of how they define OCB, meanwhile they do their utmost to tell us it won't be used widely [yet]. Could it be a test balloon they are flying to see how much $ they can make from it, how many of us they can profitably shock into a state of [of what, exactly?] after tasers fail to discombobulate us enough?Could we also assume that protesting is a sign of OCD? ========http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7014198579FDA Approves Shock Device To Treat Severe OCD Cases February 24, 2009 12:23 p.m. EST David Goodhue - AHN ReporterMiami, FL (AHN) - The Food and Drug Administration Thursday approved an implantable device that jolts the brain in people with hard-to-treat symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder. The device is called the Reclaim DBS, or deep brain stimulation, and is made by Medtronic. It is meant to treat patients with cases of OCD where drugs and psychotherapy has failed.Reclaim DBS will likely be available for sale in the middle of this year.OCD is estimated to affect one in 50 adults in the United States. Medtronic said the Reclaim DBS will likely only be appropriate for use in under 4,000 patients."For patients with OCD, DBS therapy represents an alternative therapeutic approach, which may be an option for patients who did not experience a benefit from more traditional treatments," Dr. Ali Rezai, neurosurgeon at Cleveland Clinic and investigator in early studies of DBS for OCD, said in a Medtronic press release. =====In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C.
