Here is a quote that is the heart of the problem: "Vaccines are products that are completely different from any others. We need to encourage companies to develop vaccines in order to protect the public health," said Rep. Henry Waxman. No, vaccines are NOT completely different -- they are pharmaceutical products approved by the FDA and they need to be safe as well as effective. When people start talking about something being "completely different," it reminds us of the notion that "9/11 changed everything" and similar claims.
