it is still used for intestinal worms by modern herbalists.

apparently in the past it was also used for hysteria and other

nervous conditions as well as kidney weakness and stomach

irritation. It was also used externally for skin ailments and

sprains. I've also read of a custom where people eat " Tansy Cakes "

on Easter as a general tonic for the body after the lenten fasting.

It is a little toxic, you're right about that but it seems to have

been used safely in small doses. Basically, it's not of much

practical use that we know of today : )

I used to make pickled green pear tomatoes that contained tansy, among other

things. They were just about nuclear, and folks loved ‘em.
