Guest guest
I am not any better or smarter than anyone in this group and am susceptible to the misuse of words. Any word, especially when in print, is very powerful and precise. Some of the words we use in this group have been misused and we should consider them more carefully in our postings. lest vitriolic name-calling results. Facts and truths never change. They are absolute and are agreed upon by all people who view them at all times. Beliefs are simply the opinion of one or more people based on their interpretations of the facts. They are not truths. They are perceptions. Ignorance? must not be confused with stupidity, mental incapacity, or beliefs. The word is based on the word "ignore". Therefore, an ignorant person is one who ignores the facts in order to promote his beliefs or agenda. Interpretation? Actually, this word should not exist because interpretations are not truths. Therefore, all interpretations are really misinterpretations. So, when a person says," My interpretation of that writing is..." , what he should be saying is, " my misinterpretation of that writing is...." Statistics are manipulation of facts using mathematical systems. By nature, thay are not facts. Per Mark Twain, " ...liars, damned liars, and statistitians, in that order" Based on Twain's perception, statistics are lies
