" <bettym19 newstip for the lists Mon, 26 Jan 2009 16:55:03 -0600 Dear Betty Martini and Lists: Senator Kalani English is sponsoring a bill to ban aspartame SB576 Representative Mele Carroll is sponsoring the same as HB669 Laudable, but will encounter huge corporate lobbyists and legal theories that FDA approval is pre-emptive and that state bans would " balkanize " FDA. Senator Suzanne Chun Oakland is sponsoring as yet unnumbered Resolution asking FDA to rescind approval for aspartame. This is the best approach, I believe, with the spirit of change and reform already evident in the new Obama FDA. I wrote a large portion of both the bill and the resolution, as did Dr. Betty Martini, Founder Mission Possible International. Please let me know if you have any questions.
