Guest guest
There are three things done routinely on newborns at birth. They put an antibiotic eye salve on their eyes to protect from infection. They give them the Vit K shot to help their blood clot. And, they give them the Hepatitis B shot. All three can be refused easily, you just have to sign a form stating that you refused treatment. Make sure that your wishes are on your charts, birth plan and any other paper work. Make sure that your attending nurse, dr., doula all know your plans. Say it 10 times if you have to, to make sure that everyone understands that you do not want it done. Say it upon arrival, during labor, immediately after labor, whatever it takes, just make sure they understand. I had a friend whose baby 'accidentally " got the shot even though she requested that he did not. , debbie wright <itsabouttime66 wrote: > > Do they give it to them automatically? When do you tell the Dr.. I mention this yesterday! No she is clear of any STDS and is healthy!! I mean if she had any they would already know so why do they give them that? Oh maybe incase they are having sex with multiple partners. No she is not!! Please give me all info on any thing and why so I can try to talk them into it all!!! I also heard that they give baby a antibotic too! Thats so crazy!! Can you give me names of all meds and stuff and what it is suppose to do per say the Dr.. But then what they do as far as affect the baby. Thanks so much!!
