Guest guest Posted January 21, 2009 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 A friend of mine in England recently sent me the Zocor Adverse Drug Reports gathered by the MHRA ( Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) - The UK equivalent of the U.S. FDA.I consider it to be one of the most astonishing documents to come out of the statin era. It breaks down by side effect occurence as reported to the MHRA. More than 10,000 adverse effects have been reported since simvastatin first went on the market in the U.K., with the number reported being only 1% to 10% of the actual adverse events experienced. Although this report is on simvastatin, it is worth noting that all statins have a similar method of action and therefore a similar side effect profile would be expected.
