I'll start here by telling everyone what's gone on now for about 6 months or more with my daughter then let everyone know about the things I put in the subject line after that. My little girl has small white fibers that periodically come out of just one small area on her cheek. They look just like a short whisker-type hair usually about 3/16" - 1/4" in length that are just like a really short cat whisker - thick on one end tapering down to very thin and hair-like at the other, only these come out of her skin the oposite way of a normal hair. The thick end comes out first and the tapered thin end still inside the skin is last to come out. The first one she had was very long, at least an inch and was really thick on the end and then very whispy, very thin, the rest of the length of it. It was mostly laying on top of her skin (but stuck to it like you couldn't possibly imagine) and just a tiny portion was in the skin but it took pliars to finally get it to pull out and off her skin!! It burned like fire she said and left a painful looking red spot there for hours, most of the day in fact, and continued burning and stinging after it had been removed.The other thing I noticed is that these first, longer ones seemed to be "seeking" after I'd get them pulled out and had them tight in the grasp of the pliars. The loose end would wildly thrash around as though it were wanting to be let loose but also was drawn to any skin put near it. If I put my finger up by it, it would immediately go toward it, sort of like static electricity causes things to move only there was NO static in the air whatsoever, and as I said it would thrash around without having to put anything near it at all, just holding it in the pliars. Believe you me... I never let one go and would use a piece of tape, sticking it to the fiber so it couldn't fly off when I let loose with the pliars! Instead of just throwing it away, burning it seemed the thing to do just to be sure it could do no more harm. Since that first long one (and about 3 or 4 more longish ones) they're now all small but come regularly however they're much easier to pull out now and I can use just tweezers, where at first I always had to use pliars to get them out and her skin would pull away from her face a good 3/4" to 1 inch when I was pulling on them. ( The other thing that's improved is they no longer hurt, aside from on rare occassions. Now the most recent issue - Last evening the ring-finger knuckle on the back of my right hand suddenly was burning and stinging almost as though a hot ash had landed on it and I do mean it hurt!! I quickly looked at the spot on my hand only to find a small clump of white fuzz in the exact spot the pain was coming from. It looked like a tiny chunk (1/16") of lint but brilliant white - I mean really bright white. Reflexes took over and I pinched it and flung it off my fingers (darn I wish I'd have kept that thing!) but the burning sensation didn't quit so I looked again, only had to tilt my hand at an angle and move it close to my face to see there were still fibers attached and sticking up from my hand - they were definitely attached to my skin. Again I just wanted them off and gone, to get the burning to stop, so again used my fingers and kind of scrubbed them off.I couldn't see anymore after that but the burning then turned to stinging, and gradually decreased over the course of the next half hour until it finally quit altogether. I immediately wished I'd have had the presence of mind to put that little thing into a glass vial or ziploc baggie or something... but I was just desperate to get it off of me and make that burning stop. My daughter had complained some over the last couple of weeks about different spots on her hand and feet "burning" and "stinging" with no reason for it that she could see but I can't help but wonder now if maybe these fuzzies had been the culprit but she just didn't see them when they were on her and had since been rubbed off. I have to admit that my daughter (11 yrs old) has always been quite the "Drama Queen" and it's hard to know when to take her seriously because she turns everything (and a whole lot of nothing! lol) into a big issue... aaalllll theeee time! LOL She's always got something "wrong" with something, or if there isn't she's thinking there is & it's constant all day every day! WOLF WOLF WOLF!!! LOL So it truly is difficult to know when there's a true problem or the seriousness of it unless it's something I'm there to witness myself. lol but sometimes not at all funny like in this instance - The first thing that happened with the fuzzies was over a week ago, I'd gone outside leaving her inside to brush her teeth. She came blazing out the door, toothbrush in hand hollering (that's typical though - LOUD child lol) to get my attention quickly. Stuck to the toothpaste on the brush was one of these clumps of white (super white - even brighter white than the toothpaste) fuzzies and she was freaking out about it. Bear in mind this was before I'd had the clump on the back of my hand or the issues with her hands and feet -so I didn't think too much about the thing on the toothpaste & was figuring it was from my cleaning the top goo off with a tissue and it left a piece of tissue on the toothpaste lid or something...I did clean off that toothpaste and rinsed her brush when that happened - thankfully!!! But that sure came flooding back to me when I saw this on the back of my hand and how they were identical in color and size... and I also remembered last night that I'd seen these elsewhere a couple of times over the past couple of weeks somewhere but can't remember if it was inside or out. We spend a lot of time outdoors since we have horses, and I am convinced these are from outside and we're bringing them in on our clothes or from the other pets that go outside and come back in. We've had some pretty heavy spray-days in the last couple of weeks, leaving thick white trails criss-crossing the sky, plus many days where the air traffic is unreal, so heavy it's shocking, and in all directions with no trails left but I don't believe it takes a visible trail for "stuff" to be deposited into our air these days. I live in the middle of Nowhere Nebraska and I can recall that not too long ago seeing even ONE plane in the sky was a big event here - that's how rarely they ever flew across our area! Truly it was something to see a plane in the sky, they just didn't fly over this area at all. Those days are long gone, sadly, and one day last year I decided to count the lines in the sky and stopped at 49 because I had to. There were too many more I couldn't count because they criss-crossed each other and were laid so close together it was impossible to tell them apart from each other - there had to have been well over 50 more up there though! The other day I looked up into a clear blue sky and saw three planes all in the very center of the sky just down from the middle above my head (if that makes sense?) and I was shocked to watch two of them heading directly for each other head-on with the third coming from the side heading toward the same place the other two would meet... Just as soon as I saw it, one banked and turned sharply to avoid the other, which left a clear line of an "L" where he'd had to turn to avoid hitting head-on, and the third plane did a sharp turn as well leaving these lines in the sky as proof of how close they came to hitting each other!It did make me wonder if they were being flown remotely or computer-run. Had there been pilot's flying these planes, I cannot imagine they'd have ignored all their gear and instruments telling them of impending doom up to the point of near destruction mere seconds away... I don't know what really took place but it was sure something to see! Well, I know this is a long chatty post but I mostly wanted to tell everyone about these white fuzzy clumps that burn & sting when they touch your skin so you too can be on the look out. Oh yes, one more thing. We have a small keychain light that is bright blue, like one of those red laser lights kind of thing only blue. I've discovered these fibers all flouresce bright blue/white with this light on them! It makes it really easy to find them when they're just starting to come out of her face, so I can pull them out sooner instead of having to wait for them to come out more where I can see them with my eyes the white against her darker skin. They really light up with this light though, and I'm sure this light will come in handy like if we get that burning sensation on our skin but don't see any fibers right away. I'd really like to find someone to send these clumps to for further testing or inspection if anyone knows of anybody with that kind of equipment? MargueriteP.S.
