Mike MelvilleToday's EFT Quote: "I cannot begin to tell you how much EFT has changed my life! In five sessions with my therapist, I am now free of MANY traumas that left me fearful, isolated and emotionally repressed. I now wake up every day with JOY in my heart!!!!" What will the EFT DVD Libraries do for my practice?Send this newsletter to a friendFeatured ArticlesFeatured Article #1: Surrogate EFT for a toddler’s tantrum -- a major lesson in doing surrogate work: A big thank you to Lena Chen from Singapore for giving us an important distinction in surrogate tapping. She says, "Previous surrogate tapping experiences have taught me that when I am feeling frustrated and NEEDED the tapping to work, results were usually less than ideal, sometimes not even working at all. After comparing times when it worked and times when it didn't, I noticed that surrogate tapping tends to be less effective when I was rather attached to the outcome - in Gary's words, I was "in the way", rather than "out of the way."" Baerbel Froehlin gives us good examples of this as she communicates with her cat while using EFT during her last days. Near the end of her article she says, "About doing EFT on animals: She assured me that animals will let you know if how you do it and what you say is acceptable for them or not! Wow! Tapping along her spine, saying things like "I'm such a cool cat and my Mama loves me" or "Even though I have this cancer I choose to be free of discomfort and enjoy every moment of my life" never caused any resistance. However, when I insisted that her body should stop producing all that fluid that needed to be drained she growled at me, making it clear she didn't want me to proceed like that." While doing EFT on this issue she came up with this unique, spiritual approach. Email LindaPast Articles from the EFT WebsiteDriving fear in Louisiana: Mark Kearns offers a great example of testing the results after a few apparently successful rounds of EFT. As he explains, "A woman came to me for help with a fear of riding as a passenger in a car...Well, three or four rounds later she stated that her SUDS level was down to 1...Since this was my last client for the day, I decided to put her to the ultimate test. I put her in my jeep and took her for a ride." Persistent tapping on several issues: Often the changes that result from persistent tapping are so subtle that the clients need to be reminded how things "used to be." This happens with some frequency and may be aggravating to the therapist because, of course, we want instant and profuse credit for all healings within 50 miles. On the other hand, what better result could we ask for than to have a change so beautifully integrated within the system that is so natural that it goes "unnoticed?" Does language matter when doing EFT?: Member Gilda Grace is a relative newcomer to EFT and asks this question: "When you're working with someone whose native language is not English, does it matter if they say their affirmation in the set-up in their own language or in English? Same for the phrase they use while tapping??" Curing PTSD: Gene Douglas works with prisoners, many of whom are beset with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He has his challenges in delivering these procedures, of course, because gaining rapport is sometimes difficult with this population. Some of my own experiences with prisoners and rapport are given on our web site in my articles entitled Rapport in the Prison System and Jewels in the Junkyard. Gene demonstrates a creative method for backing off and then sneaking up on an intense PTSD issue. I think you will find his message important. Fear of flying and many aspects: Karen Ledger gives us some insights into a many aspected fear of flying. In her words, "I helped the mother of a client who has such a huge fear of flying that she drives across Canada every year rather than take a plane. Well, she had to go to Ireland and didn't have time to take a boat, and was already getting nauseated three weeks before the event, just thinking about it." Using EFT for your Biggest Problem: Steve Wells from Australia shares with us a concept for getting to the core of our issues. He calls it our Biggest Problem and develops his idea in detail. As he explains, "What is the biggest problem you have? And for each of the problems you have (and most of us have quite a few) what is the biggest problem that having that problem causes you?" Understanding this article should help you get results with otherwise resistant cases.
